We've officially been waiting 13 months now.
I went to my adoption support group last week. We had some good news to celebrate: one of the people was quickly matched domestically (five days!!!) and is home with her baby boy!!!
Unfortunately, I'm too drained at the moment to talk adoption, mainly because there's nothing new to say. We've got at least four more months to go before we're matched. On April 26 we're attending a class on transracial and transcultural adoption.
In the meantime, I'm getting excited about my trip to Los Angeles next month to see a friend who used to work at the magazine with me. I've not seen her in at least two years and I've never met her 8-month-old baby. Plus, I've never been to California and I LOVE to fly! (Can we say Best Vacation EVER!?!?!) Tim will be attending a conference in New Mexico, so it kind of stinks that we won't be together, but when I get back we're having the nursery painted finally!!! — Sarah

- Although we began talking about adoption when we first met in 2000, the process started in November 2006 with our first batch of paperwork. We were added to the official waiting list on March 14, 2007. It was estimated at that time that we'd be "matched" with a child 10-12 months from that date. 14 months later, we were referred for an almost 2-month-old baby boy on May 14, 2008. He's the most beautiful child in the entire world... seriously, he is. Join us as we - and our two dogs and one cat - embrace this life-changing event.
