No, we aren't so frustrated with the adoption wait that we've turned to heroin - Tim started his series of immunizations Monday. There's such a long list of what we need so I'll spare the details, but he got four shots, goes back in a month and then again in six months. He was in the National Guard years ago so we think he's probably had some of them, but excavating those records would be a full-time job. He also has prescriptions for things like malaria pills. Yum! Fortunately, he was able to get the shots relatively cheap on campus since he's in grad school. Now it's my turn, although he got kind of sick and his arms were really sore so I'm wondering if I should just take my chances with yellow fever.... just kidding. By the way, I've heard immunizations are going up Jan. 1. Not sure if that's just at the hospital I called or nationwide.
Oh, and we found out that we'll have to update our homestudy if we don't travel by January (it expires in February). I knew our fingerprints had a shelf life, but it never occurred to me that the homestudy did, too. So I'll need to look into that because there's no way in heck that we'll travel by then. Being totally realistic, it's looking like the 12-months-'til-matched timeline is getting stretched everyday. No worries though. As anxious as I am I know we've got lots of preparation left.
I realized the other day that I hadn't written about going to Virgin Fest in Baltimore earlier this month. I had a great time (Beastie Boys, The Police, Amy Winehouse to name a few), but mark my words, that was the first and last music festival I'll ever attend, at least in the summer. It was so freakin' hot and crowded.
In baby news, a dear pal in California gave birth to a beautiful baby boy last week, so congrats to her and her hubby!
Lots of people have been asking about my brother, John, who's overseas with the Marines. He's doing well, although he says it's super hot and dusty. He's made some care package requests so I'm going to try and honor those this weekend if I can get to the post office. He is an amazing person and I am so proud of him.
Keep Tim in your thoughts. His fall semester started today. In addition to two grad classes he's also a TA to an intro econ class. He actually got to lecture today! How cool, right? Plus, he's still exploring jobs around town. - Sarah
