We hit the seven-month mark earlier this week. Last year, when Tim and I were sitting on the front porch handing out Halloween candy to some pretty darn cute kids, I mentioned that that would be our last Halloween sans children. Well, as you know, our timeline has been adjusted a bit. What initially started as an 8-10-ish month wait has now ballooned to 12-plus (15 is within the realm of possibilities).
When people ask me what's taking so long, I really don't know what to say. Yes, there are thousands of children who need homes, particularly in Ethiopia. However, we have requested an infant up to 12 months in age, so that is somewhat limiting. Plus, the Ethiopian government shut down for a month or so recently to celebrate the county's millennium (they're on a different calendar system). Additionally, more and more people are aware of Ethiopia's adoption program (it's one of VERY few countries in Africa that allow adoption by Westerners), which in turn has funneled more parents-to-be into the cue.
Neither one of us are religious, but I do believe in a certain amount of destiny. Perhaps our wait is because the child we're meant to be with hasn't even been born yet. So until that time, our wait continues. All I can hope is that THIS will be the last Halloween before we're dressing up a little one for the festivities. - Sarah

Ahh the ever patient waiting. I love that we will probably travel together (maybe). Isn't it so tiring having people ask "when are you traveling...have you heard anything"
I can't wait for the day that I can say GUESS WHAT HE'S HERE!!
Haha just know your not alone. :-)
