We Broke The Seal

You might recall that not too long ago I was bragging that Nigel had not yet gotten sick. I was diligent with Lysol wipes, and always cleaned his hands after we left someone's house or the mall play area. But come on: A 10-month-old, recently adopted from a developing country, now living in a house that's not always so clean and has three pets - I didn't know why, but it was awesome. WAS awesome. Somewhere along the line we let our guards down. We broke the sickness seal this week.

Tim had a pretty rough cold last week or so, and on Monday, I started to notice that Nigel had a little congestion in his chest. By Wednesday, all bets were off - and I sniffling away, too. It's not been a pretty sight, people. I was thrown up on; we've filled at least two trash cans with tissues; and I learned that Vicks makes a baby rub and our baby thermometer stinks! And I'm not going to lie... once I wiped Nigel's nose with my sleeve!

But Nigel has been a really good sport about it all. He's slept well, eaten a respectable amount of food, and remained in good spirits. And the wiggly thing has actually let me snuggle with him more than usual, which has made it all a little bearable! - Sarah

poor baby.... sick kids are sad and no fun. Regarding thermometers... I hate all of them. I have tried them all... even the pricier roll across the forehead kind... I get drastically different readings on them all. I probably need to figure out a solution to this problem soon....

Hope he feels better soon!

lol :-). Leul gets sick about every 4-6 weeks. He woke up yesterday sick AGAIN! I always say "IF I HAVE TO WIPE SNOT FROM YOUR NOSE ONE MORE TIME...." lol but I'm glad he's home and I can do this for him. Give boy our loves, hope he gets better!!!

Did you know babes should get sick 10-12 times a year to help build their immunity? There you go - one down.

Feel better - all of you!

True, M&M, there is the theory that exposure builds immunity. And I think his exposure to things in Ethio is WHY he's just now gotten sick (God knows I love that country, but if the smog alone doesn't kill you, you're a strong person).

Oh, I hope the three of you are better soon. We still haven't broken the seal yet, but I'm sure it's got to be just around the corner.....
